The Meta Trak Pulsar uses the latest GNSS/GSM technology to provide accurate positioning data and facilitate covert installation.

Tracking of your vehicle or asset is provided at predetermined intervals that are configurable in the Meta Trak Pulsar app. See 'Position Request' for further information.

In its normal state, the Meta Trak Pulsar is in deep sleep mode and wakes up at set intervals to receive pending commands, such as a request for its position or a request to activate theft mode. By default, the Meta Trak Pulsar wakes up every 8 hours to check for pending commands and reports its position once per day.

You can send a single position request command to the device, which will be executed the next time the device wakes up. The Meta Trak app will notify you when the new position report is available, or you can change how often you would like the Meta Trak Pulsar to report its position, ranging from twice a week to 24 times per day. However, it's important to note that the more frequently the device wakes up to report its position, the faster its batteries will be depleted. Further information on this can be found in the ‘Battery-life’ tab.

When theft mode is selected, the Meta Trak Pulsar will send an updated position every 60 seconds. It should only be activated in the event of an actual theft. To select theft mode, simply press the magnifying glass icon in the Pulsar app. Theft mode will be enabled at the device's next wake-up.

Theft mode can be set for a specific duration or an unlimited time. It is recommended to use the 'Time Limit' mode to prevent inadvertent battery exhaustion.

With the Meta Trak Pulsar, you have the ability to establish a Geo-Fence and receive notifications if your asset is located outside of this designated area when the device next activates. The detection of leaving the Geo-Fence is triggered by either a manual position request or the scheduled position report.

You can customise the Geo-Fence to span between 100-10,000 meters, activate theft mode automatically if your asset is detected outside of the chosen radius, and specify the duration for which you want the Geo-Fence to remain active.

The Meta Trak Pulsar is designed to offer up to 3 years of asset monitoring. The package includes a 3-year service plan (SIM data and app access). Please note that depending on device usage and environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, GSM signal strength, and satellite availability, the batteries may need to be replaced within the 3-year service period.

Please consult the information below to see approximately how wake-up frequency impacts service life –

24 wakeups per day = 58 days of service

12 wakeups per day = 116 days of service

6 wakeups per day = 234 days of service

4 wakeups per day = 350 days of service

3 wakeups per day = 467 days of service

2 wakeups per day = 700 days of service

When the Meta Trak Pulsar batteries need to be replaced, they MUST be replaced with Panasonic CR123A (3v Lithium) and be the Industrial variant. The cells should also be voltage matched to ensure correct device operation. You can purchase the correct matched cells directly from Meta Trak. Cells purchased online on Amazon, for example, are likely not matched pairs and therefore can result in compromised device performance and significantly impaired battery life.

Key Stand-Out Features and Benefits

·        Tracking: The Meta Trak Pulsar can accurately track your vehicle or asset by providing daily reports on its position. You can schedule the frequency of these reports using the Meta Trak Pulsar app for flexibility according to your needs. The Meta Trak Pulsar utilises the latest GNSS and GSM technologies, ensuring highly accurate and reliable positioning and communication capabilities. These technologies, combined with the small and covert design of the Meta Trak Pulsar, help you monitor your vehicle or asset at all times, giving you peace of mind and providing increased security for your vehicle or asset.

·        Service Life: The Meta Trak Pulsar wireless battery-powered tracker can last up to 3 years with its replaceable power source and comes with a 3-year subscription/service plan included in its price. For practical use with multiple position reports per day, we recommend replacing the device's batteries every 12 months to ensure good reserve power levels in case of theft, which should help achieve a service life of around 18 months. However, environmental factors can affect the service life, but in most cases, 18 months should easily be achieved, and many devices with multiple programmed wakeups have proven to far exceed this.

·        Theft mode: In the unfortunate event of a theft, you have the option to activate theft mode on your Meta Trak Pulsar tracker. When theft mode is activated, the tracker will consistently report its position every 60 seconds. This frequent reporting enhances the accuracy of the positioning data and provides comprehensive route-tracing information, which is instrumental in aiding recovery efforts and providing vital information to police forces.

It's important to note that theft mode can be deactivated at any time. However, to prevent the accidental drain of the tracker's battery during recovery operations, you should set a specific time limit for the theft mode to remain active (done in the Meta Trak Pulsar app).

·        Warranty: The Meta Trak Pulsar comes with a 3 year parts and labour warranty. This battery-powered tracker offers great value with low ongoing costs, giving you long-lasting peace of mind by ensuring that your investment is covered for whatever period you require. The Meta Trak Pulsar is indeed a smart investment that will stand the test of time, providing lasting security and value for you, your vehicles, or your assets.

Make a wise investment in the Meta Trak Pulsar wireless tracker to ensure ultimate peace of mind. This cost-effective but advanced battery-powered tracker offers comprehensive features, easy user control, and an affordable price point.

The Meta Trak Pulsar is a wireless, battery-powered tracker designed to provide up to 3 years of asset monitoring and includes a 3-year service plan. The Pulsar device is a self-fit, DIY-friendly solution, although professional installation is available. This battery-powered tracking device is suitable for vehicles or assets, but it is particularly useful for non-powered assets. Since the Meta Trak Pulsar is self-powered, it can be used to track assets that have no onboard power supply, such as horseboxes, trailers, generators, and other similar types of vehicles or assets.

No, the Meta Trak Pulsar is not Thatcham-approved. It is not designed for the purposes associated with Thatcham and insurance-approved products, such as 24/7 professional monitoring. Instead, it is a cost-effective asset tracking device that is self-monitored and self-installable.

It is ideal for non-powered assets, such as trailers, horseboxes, or any vehicle/assets that do not have an onboard power supply. Additionally, it can serve as a backup tracking device as part of a more sophisticated multi-point security system.

This product is perfect for customers seeking an affordable solution that provides hourly, daily, or weekly positioning reports for their vehicle or asset without the costs associated with Thatcham and insurance-approved products.

The Meta Trak Pulsar is covered by a 3 year Meta Trak parts and labour warranty.

The Meta Trak Pulsar and the Meta Trak Shield are both self-monitored tracking devices, but they differ significantly.

The Meta Trak Pulsar is a wireless, battery-powered tracker that can be self-installed as a do-it-yourself solution. On the other hand, the Meta Trak Shield is a hardwired tracking device that requires professional installation or can only be installed by a Meta Trak-approved engineer.

While the Meta Trak Shield provides real-time vehicle/asset positioning information at any time, the Meta Trak Pulsar provides its positioning information at predetermined intervals. The Meta Trak Pulsar is designed to provide a tracking solution for non-powered assets and does not offer real-time, live tracking data due to its self-powered design, which is intended to conserve and extend the device's battery and service life.

If you are looking for a self-monitored tracking system with low ongoing costs, both products would be a good fit. However, the right product for you depends on your situation and requirements.

The Meta Trak Shield is the right product if you are seeking live tracking information from a vehicle or asset that has an onboard power supply. This product would be hardwired into the vehicle or asset's electrical system but also features an internal battery back-up.

The Meta Trak Pulsar is the right or only product that will provide a solution for tracking any asset that has no onboard power supply, such as trailers and many other types of similar vehicles. It is one of the most cost-effective ways to track any vehicle or asset as it doesn’t require professional installation or servicing and has low upfront and ongoing subscription costs. Since the Meta Trak Pulsar is wireless and requires no hardwiring, it is super easy to self-fit and is ideal for monitoring non-powered assets.

A subscription is necessary for the operation of the system/hardware. All telematics products (tracking systems) incur costs as they transmit data and communicate over the mobile network.

Airtime:

Think of a tracking system as like a mobile phone and its airtime plan; you pay for the handset/tracking device, as well as for the data that the handset/tracking device transmits over the mobile network to the network providers.

In our case, your subscription pays the network providers to carry your tracking system's data across their network. Your subscription is slightly more expensive than a normal airtime plan. However, a modern tracking system usually utilizes multi-roaming, so it transmits data over the network provider with the best connection in a given area. Your tracking device is not tied to a single network provider.

Theft Monitoring:

When you subscribe to a tracking system, you are paying for the 'airtime' for your hardware to use the mobile network to transmit data, as well as for 24/7/365 theft monitoring.

If your tracking system is Thatcham-approved (Insurance-approved), it will include 24/7/365 theft monitoring as standard. The subscription costs for these types of products are higher than for a device that is simply used to transmit location data, such as a fleet or self-monitored type of product.

Your subscription cost covers both the cost of 'airtime' and a professional theft support service. This theft support service is available 24 hours a day to notify you of the potential theft of your vehicle.

In the event of an alert being generated by your vehicle tracking system, it is sent to the monitoring centre. Personnel at the monitoring centre are then notified on screen of the alert, and all alerts are responded to by a telephone call to the vehicle owner/driver. If a theft is confirmed, monitoring centre personnel will use direct lines into police control rooms to coordinate the recovery of your vehicle.

Summary:

As you can see, the professional theft monitoring service included with Thatcham/Insurance-approved tracking systems commands a higher subscription price compared to ordinary tracking devices used solely for locational purposes.

A professional theft support service is mandatory for a tracking system to be accredited as a Thatcham category S7 or S5 product. Both categories are used by vehicle insurers to lower their risk concerning vehicle crime and are also known as insurance-approved vehicle tracking systems.

Depending on whether you choose to install the device yourself or have it professionally installed by one of our engineers, the process typically takes between 2 to 5 days. Your purchase could be with you the next day if self-installing or could take up to 5 days if opting for professional installation.

It can take longer at busier periods of the year and of course all depends on our engineers availability.

The Meta Trak Pulsar is quick and easy to install, set up, and activate. If you choose to self-install and opt for a discreet setup, you could be ready in as little as 10 minutes. For professional installation, finding suitable covert locations for installation may take anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes.
